Frequently Asked Questions
What inspired our Garlic Powder?
After we do our presale we are usually left with some small or weird shaped or garlic. Not wanting any waste, and inspired by my step-mom, I started making garlic powder as a way to give new life to the small and mis-shaped garlic.
At our house, we sometimes enjoy the powder more than the cured garlic because of its incredible flavour and ease of use. If stored correctly, the shelf life can outlast the cured garlic.
How do we make our Red Russian Garlic Powder?
The first thing to know is, we only use garlic grown on our farm and on occasion, from another family member's farm. This gives us full confidence in the quality of the garlic.
Once the garlic has been harvested and fully cured, we grade it into Seed stock and Regular Cured Garlic. That leaves behind the little or odd shaped Garlic which gets turned into powder. This determines our limit on how much powder we can make that year.
Then, we peel it by hand, chop it up in a food processor and dehydrate it.
Once it is completely dry, we store it in its rough shape in air tight containers until an order is placed. Only then, we grind it up to a powder which ensure its freshness is preserved as long as possible.
It is a labour of love, and it sure is a tasty one.
What inspired our Bath Salts?
This is a new product, and we can't wait to hear how you like it.
When we took over our farm plot, it came with many beautiful and mature plants, including Lavender and a Rose bush. Looking for a way to put these to use, we came up with the idea to create botanical bath salts with the dried flowers and buds.
This past summer, we hand harvested, dried or dehydrated, and stored the Lavender and Rose petals along with Calendula and Bachelor Button petals. With the help of a friend, we choose some essential oils to pair with to botanicals to match the emotional and physical effects we want the bath salts to provide.
Through the trial phase we have worked hard at balancing the Epsom Salts and botanicals get the full benefits of all the ingredients.
Our Lavender & Chamomile Botanical Bath Salts is now available for purchase. We are currently working on another recipe for the Rose petals.
